Abstract

Since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine War, some overseas netizens have launched a so-called "Great Translation Campaign" against China, featuring translating the remarks of Chinese officials and individual netizens and posting them on English social media. The "Great Translation Campaign" is essentially an information warfare campaign in the form of a mass movement of so-called "decentralization" encouraged by Western anti-China and anti-communist forces. The planners take advantage of the "information cocoon" that exists among foreign netizens in relation to China, with the intention of constructing a negative cognitive base of global netizens towards China, thus promoting the formation of stereotypical, negative anti-China and anti-communist perceptions and sentiments.
