Abstract

The war between Russia and Ukraine has not changed the increasingly allied US-Taiwan relationship trend. Taiwan was already far more important on the US strategic map than Ukraine. Even so, this has reinforced the US' sense of urgency about changes in the Taiwan Strait, and the US efforts to strengthen Taiwan's military preparedness and "ties" with its allies have been stepped up, with the "strategic blur" towards Taiwan becoming more apparent by the day. In response, China should be fully prepared with various contingency measures and plans for the worst.
