Abstract

The current tensions in Ukraine are a continuation of Russia-Ukraine relations after the Crimea incident in 2014, and also a concentrated outbreak of a 30-year old dispute between Russia and the United States over NATO's Eastward Expansion. The US-Russian stalemate in Eastern Europe will continue, and although this could keep the US policy toward China in check and deplete its forces to a certain extent, it is unlikely to effect China's position as the overall strategic focus of the US. The international situation is treacherous, and we need to calmly analyze new changes and trends in the interaction of great powers, thus being well prepared for possible future situations.
