Abstract

With the end of the election of the chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on May 8, the only candidate who qualified for the election this year, Li Jiachao, also successfully became the new HKSAR chief executive. This year marks the 25th year of Hong Kong's return to China and the beginning of the second half of the implementation of "one country, two systems" in Hong Kong, so Li's appointment is also given more historical mission. Hong Kong, which has just gone through three years of change, will develop in what direction and participate in the development of the country in what form. This is a matter of great concern to all. This report provides an initial review of Li's future policy direction in conjunction with his election platform, summarizes the strengths and weaknesses of his plan, and puts forward suggestions for his future work to ensure that his team can actively promote the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong.
