Abstract

With the rise of a new wave of epidemic caused by the variant of the Omicron virus strain, some changes have occurred in some localities in China that conducted scientific and rational-oriented epidemic prevention policies. Due to insufficient scientific understanding of the new variant, local epidemic prevention policies have shown trends of insufficient scientific response, excessive fear, one-size-fits-all epidemic prevention policies, and politicization of epidemic prevention, which have caused many negative impacts on people's lives and economic development. These phenomena should be stopped in time and the epidemic prevention strategy should be adjusted in time to achieve the goal of "achieving the maximum prevention and control effect at the minimum cost" as emphasized by General Secretary Xi Jinping.
